“I know what you meant, my sweet,” he said. “I'll appoint him to my court. He can have
a title if he wants. No one will dare harm him then; he'll be well taken care of, and he'll be near
you so you can still see him. You wouldn't, however -- I wouldn't allow -- the thing is, Bianca, I
would want you all to myself.”

         “Oh.” This hadn't occurred to her. “Yes, I suppose you would.”
         “You wouldn't have to divorce him. You could still see him for meals and concerts or
even public events. I wouldn't be jealous, so long as you remain in separate beds.”
         “He -- er --”
         “I could find him plenty of consorts.”
         “That answers that question.”
         “Then there's only one more, I think.”
         And that question they answered together that afternoon in a private bedroom at the ducal
palace, several times. And the answer was irrevocably unquestionably ecstatically affirmative.
