Chapter 75.
                                 An alchemist’s good fortune

Chimento Zaccario could not believe his luck. On the Duchess’s request for Zaccario to
search the rooms of Dr. Valerius, vigilantly looking for any further evidence of intent to poison
her, Zaccario found a treasure trove of papers which would serve the purpose very well indeed.
It was a handmade folio of children’s stories, packed with sections of text which could clearly
prove by symbolic analogy the doctor’s knowledge of poison, chemical transformations, sinister
aspects of science-gone-wrong, not to mention disturbing attitudes towards innocent children.
The doctor was a dead man.
