“I'm five. And if you dislike me so much, why'd you rescue me? Aren't
you going to get into trouble with your boss? I've forgotten his name.”

“For you, it's the One Whose Name We No Longer Say, for me it’s a sound
like seething sulphur. And yes, I'm going to have to do some explaining. But
as soon as he hears you were only five, he'll not be angry. Your soul isn't
worth snaring yet.”

         “Is too.”

“Sorry, no. Has to do with free will and moral imperatives and other
things you don't yet understand.”

         “Teach me.”

         “It would take years.”

         “I have all of eternity.”

“So do I. But I'm not going to waste it on an angel. I'd just lose you to
the Other Side. Now, come on, let's go. Show me which way are the Pearly
Gates.”

         “No.”

         “What?”

         “I want to stay here.”

“No you don't. It's hot and painful and filled with sorrow and terror. Get
thee in front of me, angel. I would love to give you a tour of Hell, Benito.
Honest. You'd find it fascinating. But I'd need to ask your mother's
permission.”

         “My mother!”
